“Trespassing” - process work

This is a new painting called “Trespassing”. Along with colour, I plan on adding text around the edges of the canvas, to be illuminated by a mirror-clad frame. A poem inspired this painting: 

Trespassing/ Sagamok Anishnabek/ Sandy Beach/ Baptism/ Massey/ LaCloche Lake/ Yocals/ Crown Land/ Coyote/ Healing/ Transformation 

It is a beach, rock face and outlet drawn from memory, close to Fort LaCloche - long contested territory between the Sagamok Anishnabek First Nation and the Crown.

Art and writing for me are antidotes to living a life online, a way of engaging deeply with the present and the creative spirit. It has taken me a long time to set up boundaries around my time.
